Visiting California's Champion Trees

Dan Simpson will present two topics. One is the story of the ancient Bristlecone Pines. These are one of the oldest tree species on earth, with the oldest tree approximately 5,000 years old and known as Methusalah. Visiting these trees is an experience that should be high on the bucket list of every arborist. This will lead into his other topic which is vacation tree visits.  Danny will present some suggestions on places to see significant trees in locations from San Diego to Los Angeles area. Questions to ponder when visiting a significant tree range from how you can interpret their life from past practice and estimating their role in history. As these large and aged trees decline and vanish, they will survive in photos and the memory of those who have seen them. So if you are planning a stay-cation or a longer road trip, you can start a list of interesting and champion trees to visit and share their story with others. Hopefully some of our members will be inspired and want to share details on a special tree they visited.

Remember if you deliver a tree of the month presentation at a future meeting you will get a complimentary dinner.
